aarrrg...
I've finally narrowed down my selection for rims that I just may purchase soon... Rota Slipstream 16x7 ET40
HOWEVER, now the tire question... I've been reading and reading, but I still can't choose...
Any recommendations??
I have winters, so I'm looking for something that can perform well in dry AND wet, as we know this is Raincouver, but tire tread life is a big seller for me...
I was thinking along the lines about Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 215x40x16...
Your thoughts?

i know a place you could ship them and tires too in the states also...then go accross with a set of shitty wheels, get them mounted, then come back...could be cheaper...

I've had two sets of kuhmo ecsta 712's (205-50-14), they aren't bad. Super long lasting, decent rain and dry performance. I did lots and lots of track days on the kumho's and when new they stick good but the heat cycling really affects them. (oh btw if you want a wider tire, go with a 225/45-16 not 215-45-16). I prefer my brother's ES100's but the treadwear is not as durable as the kumho's.

Yeah, I've seen that group buy, however, they're not getting the colour i want, and I've found a place that has them for 490US shipped although i'll need spacers, the price isnt THAT different... I may need to utilize that address u have in the states, as i was thinking of heading down and getting them installed with tires and everythin... Thanks for the info, I still havent decided if i want to dip into my europe fund for these, or wait till i get back... aaah decisions, decisions...

I have these exact tires on my car right now. They came with the car and wouldn't have been my first choice as I was use to Toyo proxes, but I got to say I am impressed with them. I've taken mine on a couple of track days and they have never disappointed me. For the price you can't beat them.

Hey Guys,
If any of you are looking for new rubber, drop me a line. February 1, I bought another shop to go with my upholstery and resto biz. It's a full service repair, and tire shop. I've got just about any tire you could want, and I can do very well on Falken, which I'm a big fan of. Shop is called Classic Image Automotive, and we're at 107 - 13302 76 Ave, in Surrey. I'll look after you guys for sure.

I had the original Toyo Proxes T1 and then the T1-R. They worked very well. I don't know anything about the FZ1's your talking about. They may be a lower end tire.

I e mailed Al about the 4 Falken ZX512 195/65/R14 tires I will be picking up next week for the new 318is. His quote was $90 -$95 each mounting and balancing in. Taxes and BS extra. Kal Tire quoted me $91 each plus $13 each for mounting/balancing. good price but if Al charges $90 each complete thats a $60 saving as no taxes on the $13 charge. Definately worth a trip out to Surrey.

I can do a Falken 512 in that size for under $120 mounted and balanced. You'll be happy with them for sure.
