Well, the time has come for my first "breakdown"
I was drivin to pick up some supplies to put in my new euro grilles, annnnd, leaving the Canadian Tire parking lot (kind of ironic I know) the car turned over, started, then sputtered out with a terrible rough idle...
When I tried to restart it, the same happend barely breaking past the 500rpm mark with the car shaking miserably, even though I was givin it some gas...
Sooo, had to get a tow to my mechanic where he'll take a look at it...
Im thinking its something fuel related, maybe fuel pump...
Anyways, I'm hoping its nothing too major...!

thats the worst feeling. I've had it many a time with my VDubs. Glad i'm driving the Bimmer now, but it makes your heart sink.

Lucky it wasn't on the highway or anything either, just a populated parking lot which is ok :).

thanks mike... It was actually at the Canadian Tire in Port Coquitlam, which was about a 10 minute tow ride to my mechanics....
But, the verdict is in, it really was the fuel pump, and because I dont have any time to fix it, and I really need my car to get to school/work I've got him to fix it...

ahh well labour should be too bad for it, an hour max. you just pull the back seat up, 3 screws, and then theres the pump, from there it takes about 5 min. i learned the hard way by dropping my tank and seeing the hatch after the fact:(

That's a pity. Hope it doesn't cost you too much to fix it...

I'm curious, where did you source the pump from and how much are they? I bought one years ago for my other 318is but have grown stupid since then and have forgotten.

Hmmm. I'm thinking Dr. Zoidberg might have a line on some nice E30 parts since he is so close to Germany. Like M Tech II steering wheels, OEM lip spoilers, E30 rear view mirrors with map lights, Euro head light sets etc. What do you say Dr.?

My mechanic did the work for me, I did not have the time to do it myself. Apparently they're very expensive from the dealer, so my mechanic had to use an aftermarket one and retro fit it...

uh oh... the aftermarket ones don't last nearly as long, and rumor has it they don't put out the same psi either... thats according to my mechanic friend.
lordco has the OEM pumps, they're still fairly expensive, arround 300$ or so if my memory serves me correct.

$300 is not bad if its german like VDO, BMA parts in Calif. charges $198 US for it. Does Lordco carry other german brand stuff like Bosch oxygen sensors and Mann filters etc.?

I say: That's true. They sell virtually everything on Ebay in Germany. Just name it and I can try to get my claws ahem... HANDS on it... :D

yeah they can get most of the bosch, VDO, and many other names. you have to deal with their sercasm tho as every lordco employee is sercastic. i'm friends with the white rock guys, and they will look pretty hard for stuff for me, but make sure you get an experienced guy, cause they're know'n to just give up.
