Ok I have to get a few things done on the car for certification but I have no high beams, fuses seem ok, so do the lights themselves, does anyone know if there is a relay for the high beams if so which one is it? The owners manual is useless. thanks guys.

Ya that happened to me last year, now I cut and paste all my favourite sites to a word doc and print it out.
Thanks guys the info you supplied was great.
I was messin around trying to pop the relay out and decided to try the high beams, they worked so one thing less to be concerned about for the reinspection. Must have been loose.
Heres a list of why the car failed: (91 318is)

Rear rotors worn
1 leaky hose
no high beams (fixed now)
right front ball joint worn, funny the other side was tight when you move the wheel.
Muffler (new one went on)

Seeing Al at Classic tomorrow morning to fix this stuff as the cost of temp permits is killing me. No Aircare is needed, they give ya a 1 year reprieve for cars coming from out of province.

Oh Al is a mechanic? Didn't know that. Where did you get your car inspected at Mark?

Well he has 2 lifts at the tire shop and I believe he is a mechanic, have you seen the cars in the upholstery shop, damn, I might want a round light 2002 after seeing 2 of his customers cars in there. Plus the 323i E21 full resto. with a Euro E21 six banger goin into it, right hand drive.
If I still had my huge garage I would do all this work myself, car would be up on jack stands as we speak and I would be burning the midnight oil out there.
I inspected the car from underneath today, a couple of seals are leaking.
Car was inspected at Krangle Automotive on automotive row at 346 E. Esplanade, anyone from N.Van will know exactly where that is. $79 and they installed my exhaust for $60. Came back as it was banging on the underside of the car (typical) They took care of it. Nice big clean organized shop, and excellent service. 2 or 3 lifts. They do front end work as well, had torches and welders.

Yes Al is a mechanic, worked at a Porsche/VW dealer in Toronto.
