Calling BowWow right now.
Cruised out to Al's this morning, car is running GREAT, I love it.
But the new control arm does not come with a new bushing, how stupid, removing a pressed in bushing from the old one is dumb! Old one is off car and cant be used again.
Al and I tried everywhere, looks like Monday afternoon, tried damn near everyone. No car for the weekend unless someone has a bushing for me.
Car has been resprayed, once its up on the hoist I can see that its definately been painted. Oh well, this winter i will have it completely done.
Hi, Mark.
I'm probably way too late, but hopefully this might help.
I'm not sure of the geometry of the 318is, but the E30 M3 uses a solid, offset bushing (that is, the hole for the control arm is offset). I'm not sure if it will work directly on your car if you require a centered bushing. The 1996+ E36 M3 used a solid, centered bushing, part number 31 12 9 069 035. So you might want to use this bushing instead.
The BMW Store is open on Saturdays now, BTW.
Sorry, Al, I didn't notice you called until I was out of cell phone range past Keremeos. Even without an interior, an E30 M3 is a good choice for the highways of BC. I averaged 99.4 km/h and 8.7 l/100km.

yeah the m3 bushings work, needs an alinment after tho because it changes the geometry. its actualy benifial to use the m3 ones, increases high speed stability and handling
I believe the alignment depends on which M3 bushings are used. If the E30 M3 bushings are used, then an alignment is required. If the 1996+ E36 M3 bushings are used, then no alignment is necessary (if the stock bushings are centered).

The offset/eccentric CAB is from the e30 m3, that's stock right?
Yes, the solid, offset Control Arm Bushing (CAB for those who didn't guess) is stock on the E30 M3. The part number is 31 12 9 061 222.

These guys are always good, great prices on OEM and other stuff, plus they care about how you are making out wiht your project.
I recently went to a shop recommended by parts guys at Jessels and I got the old " oh yeah that's easy we do that all time, we soup up new m3's all the time, no problem, we're pro's" etc etc.....car came back not right and they didn;t implement any of the tips I spent hours researching.
Any good shops that actually care about 'those old 3 series'?

Kevin is right. We do care about "old 3 series". So much so, that I've spent nearly 2 years on a ground up restoration of an E21 323i. So much that Kevin recently acquired his first E30. So much that I came in on my day off a couple weeks ago to get Mark's 318is suspension back together, so he could have his car back. We care about E30's, E21's, E28's, E24's , and also about older VW's, and a few other cars as well. Oh, I also care about brand new Volvo's!
