Ok, this weekend is the one. Clay bar time. My paint seems to be full of contaminants and there is grit when you run your hand across it. I went to Cambodian Tire tonight, no luck with finding a clay bar.
Does anyone know who carrys them on the North Shore?
Is it a wash the car, clay bar, rinse, dry then wax process? Or did I miss a step? Thanks in advance for the help...

If you buy the Meguires/Mothers clay bar package from CT make sure there is an actually clay inside of it. I've see many open packages that are missing the clay bar. I'm sure these guys can get you one. http://www.downtownautospa.com/

One thing to keep in mind is to make sure the clay and car are super lubricated. What I usually due is make sure the car is nice and soapy and spray a light all purpose cleaner on the area I'll be working on. The apc + the car wash soap make for a really slipper surface. After you clay wash the car to get an residue off and then wax away.

The Meguiars or Mothers Clay Bar kit will most likely have the quick detailing spray thing that you're looking for. Some people use soapy water, but I mean you may as well use what you're given.

And yea, make sure you lube really well, don't skimp out on the lube.

I like to just use water while claying the car. The surface has to be wet when you clay the car or it'll stick and you don't want that happening.
1. wash the car
2. clay and apply some sort of lube, (water, detailing spray, etc.)
3. rinse car down and dry
4. Polish
5. Wax

:). You can add a sealant before the wax if you want. Polish while remove the oxidataion and bring the color back. Wax will protect the paint.

Do not even bother with the meguires clay bar kit. Go to lordco and buy a clay bar there. It will be twice the size of the one in the meguires kit.

Then wash your car with dish soap to remove all traces of old wax.

Next using a spray bottle with soapy water, mist the area you want to clay. Then just move the clay bar over the area making sure the area is wet.

Make sure that you keep turning the clay to a new part while moving along the car. If you don't, you risk scratching your paint with the contaminants that the clay bar has removed.

Also if your paint is really contaminated, the clay bar might only be good for one use.

Throw the clay bar away if you drop it on the ground. Not wurth the risk!
