aftermarket mufflers

Just wondering what all my fellow 318is owners are running in terms of mufflers out there. I bought a dynomax muffler which Midas said wouldn't fit so they put a cheap walker muffler on. Sounds the same as before maybe a smidge down on power but it's hard to tell. Did anyone notice any difference with theirs or should I keep the cheap one on?

Keep the cheap one for now. Tons of people use walker, it's not great but it works okay. To fit a dynomax will take a bit of customization from a muffler shop.

Do muffler shops not stock standard sizer adapters? You'd think it would pretty easy to keep a few pieces around that would convert say 2" to 2.5" etc Short piece of flared pipe woould do it.

I had a Walker on mine when I bought it, they're junk but they work.

Exactly. Most muff shops can fabricate anything. An adapter is a no brainer, and should cost an extra $3.

My opinion is a NO on the Dynomax and other "straight through" of "High-Flo" type mufflers on the E30.
I've tried a few. They make a heck of a lot of noise, but the car doesn't go any faster. In most cases
you lose torque, I definitely noticed that immediately. Also, the noise inside the cabin was tremendous!
An intake and some headers through a stock cat and somewhat stock muffler sounds great. Quiet with
just a little deep tone. Those aftermarket muffs sound like a Honda fart can and wake up the neighborhood. :thumbs:
