I finally got my new tires and rims installed today… a couple weeks ago I was lucky to get a set of Alpina 16x7 and 16x8 rims.

Special thanks go to Tire Trends (http://www.tiretrends.com), the service was above par and they did an excellent job with the install.

Here is the result:

I opted for the BFG KDW in 205/50/16 for the front and 225/45/16 for the rear. Check out the crazy tread pattern:

So far I am more than happy with the results.

Now for my next project… this disaster:

Wow those are nice...Have you sold the 15" weaves yet? Are the KDWs the updated version of the FM901s?

KDW's are made by BFGoodrich, the FM901's are dunlop tires. I have heard many mixed reviews about the FM's. Are you looking for new tires mike?

Oh my bad, the KDWs are part of their gforce line right? Shaun, I currently have the FM901s and I don't like how they grip in the dry or the wet, especially when cornering. They don't give me much notice before they let lose. I'm looking at the Toyo Proxes 4, BFG g-force sports and Falken ziex 512s. I've had the ziex 512s in the past and they're great in the rain and dry, just don't like how soft the sidewalls are and the fact that there's no rim protector. Heard lots of good things about the Toyos (all-season tire) and the BFGs (mainly summer tire). The Toyos have a stiffer side wall I'm told and also a rim protector like on the FM901s (which I like). 205/55/15, for some reason, is an expensive size (for 15" rims).

Hey Mike,

The 512's actually have a pretty substantial rim protector. In fact, it was one of the things that originally bothered me when I first saw these tires a couple years ago. I was not a fan of how the protector looked, although it is highly functional.

If you, or anyone on this board, is looking for new rubber, give me a call. I'll beat or match anyone around here, especially on Falken. I've put 512's on Mark's 318is, and also on Carter's 325i.

Nice wheels, Robyn, although I'm disappointed you didn't go for the pimp option. Now you and Mike can hang out together and be the Alpina twins.

Haha not right now, i have to many tire as it is. But a friend of mine just picked up some Goodyear eagle f1's for $83 off tire rack. They seem to have pretty good traction. Right now i'm using Toyo t1-s's and i love them to death, abit expensive but they have never let me down. For my next set of tires i will probably get some of the new Kumho Ecsta MX's, really cheap and lots of grip.
