I have decided to sell my 89 325is with 64,000 miles. I hate automatics, almost as much as I hate SUVs, and since my three car accidents in two weeks ( all accidents involved people hitting me, and its a long story), the passenger door has never been the same, and its pissing me off. since I work for a shop I can easily sell the car at best for 5500 US. I am looking at a 1974 2002. Its not a tii (i dont want a tii for specific reasons), but it does have the rare 5 spd option, tii brakes front and rear, and the head was rebuilt 30 miles ago. The passenger door needs to be replaced due to rust, but I already found a donor door down the street. I have connections with bodywork and paint guys, and parts since I work for a shop. I was thinknig of tricking out the 2002. Paint, then modern A/C, and finally go fast goodies.
I know this topic is purely a matter of opinion but what do you guys think?
Sorry for the long rant... still not sure what to do.

It's all up to you, obviously, but I bet you'd miss the E30 once it was gone. On the other hand, you could always drive the 2002 around for a while, and get another E30 down the road. Both options sound like good ones.

02's are God, IMHO. I love those cars-light, agile, great handling, all things that modern Bimmers aren't. I'd go for it.

02's kick ass man, it i had the room i would seriously consider restoring one.

make sure you check the pedal box and floors for rust...very common on those.

good luck.
