So today, after months of looking at different cars, I bought myself a 91 318is.
I wanted the M, but the 318is seemed more practical, more affordable, and more suited for my needs and wants. One of these days though, I will get my hands on a M3.
Anyways, first things first, i'm going to be making the car into a better shape, as being a 13 year old car, it does have some minor flaws and problems. And then, fun stuff will begin, i dont even know where to start.
just thought i'd share the news, and i will be looking forward to meeting some of you and your cars in the future!

Nice. I've had fun with my 318i over the last 4 years of owning it. The M42 isn't anything special, but it's light and fun. It should be a good car for years to come.
Congrats.

thanks to all.
Well I took the CG before I bought the car, and I got a long list of thing that needs attention, they told me it would be approximately 1500 to fix everything.... but not everything needs fixing.
- Left/right inner tie rod worn (getting replaced on Monday)
- alignment after the new tie rods (also going to be done on monday)
- Thermostat broken, car runs cool all the time
- clock gets scrambled sometimes
- muffler needs to be adjusted (poor installation)
- front lower conrtol arm bushing worn
- front rotors worn, gives slight vibration, but breaks fine
- left foglight cover missing
- guibo disc worn
- shifter linkage stiff
- engine mounts worn
- play in drive shaft
- power steering hose leaking
- transmission output shaft seal and shift shaft seal
- diff seal leaking
- pinion seal leaking
most seem to be wear and tear type stuff, cept there are couple leaks that im a lil worried about... but CG told me that it is defenetely not a huge concern. They also said that I don't really need to worry about most of the problems, more that he wanted to point out every little thing.
CG seem like a very knowledgeble and helpful shop, and I plan on taking it there whenever I do big work ( and also for my first repair/tuneup on monday )..... but since I live so far, im going to have to find another shop in the north shore that can handle some little things.
well if you guys know any easy solutions/advices, let me know.
damn, sounds like a nice car...bring ti down to the nw meet on the 27th!!!

Yea, sounds like all regular wear and tear, just about all of which has been done on mine as well. Some of the repairs can wait if money is tight, but might as well get them all done together to save $$.
The thermostat should be done ASAP though. Running the car cold is not the best idea. These cars need to rev to go, and they need to be warm to do it.
Try and look for a used foglight on ebay or though enthusiast groups. You'll need an entire new unit of the lens is broken and/or missing, and they are $$ new!
If getting everything done at once isn't an option, atleast get the shifter, tranny seals and driveshaft parts (guibo and centre bearing) done all at once, it will save a ton of labour cost. I recently did this on my car. The output shaft seal is a royal b1tch!
The great thing about the 318i/is cars also, is that the oil is so darn easy to change. No lift needed or anything. I do my oil and filter in about 5-10 minutes. Might as well throw that on the list.
Let's see some pics:thumbs:

well Im getting the tie rods replaced, muffler adjusted, alignment, and tune-up done at CG on monday. And I will also get them to find out about the leaks (if it is a leak) and I will book another appointment to get the rest of the stuff done.
Where do you guys buy bmw parts around here for a good price?
Oil changes, and other easy jobs, I can do at home, and thermostat too (i think), I just need to go buy one.
anyways here are some pictures, i hope they work :
