Well, pretty soon my car will be able to compete with Motoyen's as the worst cop-magnet. I was driving down Pacific today and some total asshole cop in an SUV stops me for no front plate. He was rude, didn't ask for an explanation from me and immediately wrote me up for a 109.00 ticket. So, should I put my front plate back on?

That sucks, if our plates didn't look so damn ugly I would put it on. You should tell him that putting the plate on is a crime agaist motorsport.

Knock on wood I have never had a ticket in any of my BMW's... If you don't have a front plate or you're using a euro plate you're asking for trouble...

Sorry to hear

:welcome: jared

You can see one in this pic (http://xitemedia.net/media/images/hires_ix.jpg) On the back its ok but since they are square and not rectangle, like a Euro plate, this stick up past the front bumpers. IMO it totally ruins the lines of the car, I think they look so much cleaner without a plate.

I wouldn't use a front plate if it was legal not to. Put it on and then these guys don't have any grounds to bug you.

Cops like front plates because they can confrim a vehicle head on without having to flip a ***** and blow their cover to geta rear one. It can actually prevent pursuits. But they sure aren't pretty on E30's....

I wouldn't have minded so much if the guy didn't have such a bad attitude. He was really unpleasant, even though I tried to be friendly. Man, I've been treated better after getting stopped doing 220 on the upper levels. Anyway, I've slapped the plate back on, and I've ordered a custom euro plate from Europeanplates.com, which I will put under my regular plate.

you guys should come down to Hawaii. I havent had my front plate on for 18 months, and not a single problem. All cops care about down here is those damn riceburners with those erector set, 15 foot high, boeing wings. Basically if you have a Bimmer you are set, as alot of BMWs on the island do not have their front license plates fixed.

Cool, if it was an option, I'd move to Hawaii in a heartbeat.

I used to live in Hawaii, an area called kailua I think. Doesn't the heat and salt from the ocean do a number on your car? Do you see any E30 M3's there?

Anthony, if you live in Kailua, which is really close in proximity to the beach, then yes, the salt from the ocean can do a number on your car. Shouldnt be an immediate problem if you wash your car regularly. About the M3s...... There are maybe a handful of them (20??) on Oahu but I'm guessing that less than 10 are in stellar condition. Sadly I see the occasional beat up one being driven into the ground. My boss recently picked up an 89 M3 with 50k miles. Its that gun mental grey with a grey interior. The car is currently for sale. ItThat thing is immaculate  Right now I'm a poor college student :bigcry: so it will be a few more years before I pick one up. Until while I'm at work I'll just keep staring.....
