I was just curious why there is no advertising on this site. It just occurred to me today that there isn't any sort of advertising, and I remember there was the debate to close the site and think a couple google addsense bars would be enough to cover most if not all the site costs.

side note, according to dnScoop this place is worth $12,500. and its only 3 years 3 months and 13 days old!

Well, obviously I'm in no proper position to answer this question... but let me just state that I am overly thrilled at the fact that I'm not bombarded with flashing bullshit, flicking images and rollover nonsense everytime I log-on to my local favourite BimmerClassics website.

Isn't it a breath of fresh air/ease of the senses whenever you come on here?!? The focus is purely classic BMW's...It's a little slice of Utopia... :) . Ads are everywhere these days... even on the f-ing tollbooth gate after you emerge from your work parking-lot. Why in heck would you want more...?

Curses for even bringing the thought up....

Ads don't even penetrate my conscious mind anymore... I wouldn't be too chuffed if the site generated enough revenue to cover costs... wouldn't need to be everywhere, just the landing page probably... I spend a total of about three seconds there.

I'm with Blake on this. It is a breath of fresh air to log-in to Bimmerclassics and not be assaulted by ads. If the income is not needed, then WHY???
My 02 cents' worth :)

no offence, but reread my first post. money was needed when the decision came to continue the forum or not.

Yup I understand that coin is needed, so just like last time, everyone cough up 10 or 20 bucks for hosting fees etc. once a year to the Webmaster Motoyen. Why not have a CLEAN site with no BS if possible.

Money wasn't the reason I decided to continue the forum last time. The reason was that I was too busy with too many sites at the time. The reason why we don't have advertising is 2 fold. The first being that I would only accept advertising from companies that I feel would benefit the entire membership and the second is that I really don't know how to code in the advertising. The site costs around $200/yr to run. If anyone wants to make a donation it would be greatly appreciated but by no means feel that you are obligated.

Yup, I believe its time to show our support again, Anthony, an email address for Paypal would be great. $10 each from everyone would pay the hosting for the year so at least Anthony wouldnt have to shoulder the whole thing.

Whatta ya think guys....???

exactly. Its easy to say you don't want it when its not your coin.

Lack of coin was never a problem. ... ...I'm not some naive hippie filing a complaint on society here.

I'm addressing the relaxed and welcomed fact that, so far, this site is devoid of ads. As Carter pointed out, I am also rather able in blanking-out the majority of ads that bombard the senses everyday... yet coming home to my comfy chair and logging-on to this distraction-free site is a minor godsend...!

I'm with Mark, I'd gladly donate some $$ to cover your fees for the year Anthony...

I was just throwing out a suggestion so no need for everyone to get all wound up over this... I never called you anything blake, and my remark was not aimed directly at you though i suppose, re reading it myself, you could have easily read it that way. This was merely a suggestion as i recall when the renewall of the forum came about that it was debated to close it; and I like most of you, don't want it closed.

and since that last part has been covered no one else needs to get all riled up.
seems like all we needed was a paypal address.

Cmon guys, $10 isn't a lot of money, please kick in as its only once a year. $250 for one person to shoulder is just not fair.
