that goes hand in hand with a public word of caution for anyone looking at a DEC catalytic converter... holy f. that was an ordeal. if it wasn't for Al, that cat wouldn't have been installed. no joke.
if anyone on here is even close to being reluctant on bringing their car to Classic Image, your fears are completely unfounded.
Ill be taking my car through aircare tomorrow Al, so i'll let you know how it goes. Thanks so much again.

What was the problem with the cat? Was it a generic fit type?
And I completely agree regarding Al's work and in dealing with him. Classic Image is the only shop I'll take my BMW to.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
Dan's cat was a DEC brand, "direct fit". HAHAHAHAHAHA, direct fit, my ass. This thing was sooooo poorly built, we had to cut one of the pipe supports, then heat the front pipes, and actually bend the pipes by hand, so the flanges would line up on the manifolds! WHen we first lined the front flanges up, we could one of them in place, but the other one was nearly a full inch out. After MUCH manhandling and heat, we got them to line up. When the front pipes finally lined up, the rear was several inches away from lining up with the intermediate pipe. Just brutal, I would NEVER again fit a DEC cat on anything.
Oh and Dan, your original cat was empty!

haha, yeah that thing was a PITA. I am so glad Al is a healthy Norwegian, or I'd be sh*t outta luck! haha, when we were bending the pipe, i was hanging all my measly 145 Lbs on one flange, while Al held the pipe in place! haha.
one thing, the Cat performed beautifully for Aircare, I am way below the 2.8 allowable (and average) readings with my motor being a 3.2 s52, so that makes me happy.
next time i'll just pony up the money for a better cat (they were 2000 bucks here as opposed to the 350 i paid for the DEC).
oh yeah, and I need to say thanks to Adam too for the gaskets and the help. it's much appreciated bro.

I agree major kudos goes to Al and all his hard work that he has done on my car as of late... Finding parts can be a major *****! Thanks Al!
P.S. I should be available this weekend for the final replacements for my car, I'll give you a call or PM with the details.
