I was actually interested in buying this car. I even wanted to check it out. But there was just one thing that he told me about it that made it unpleasant to me. Yes it's true that it has rust all under the car. The car is from Quebec! So this thing is a rust bucket. Not even worthy of getting it on a hoist (that's what I wanted to do, but the word Quebec and rust changed my mind) as it's pretty obvious. Too bad, the price is so good for me, mileage (don't give a damn), the interior is really really nice. But the body needs too much work. Heck it's only a M42 :D

Well, to be fair, the price speaks to the overall condition, so let's be a bit more diplomatic about the comments. The owner *is* on the board.
This is a fair car for the bottom line price that the seller is asking. Mint (yes, mint), rare plaid interior, good mechanical condition. One who buys this car is one who doesn't care about cosmetics more than performance, and will value this car for its mechanical worth. A rust-free, straight mechanically sound 318is does not go for $2xxx or anywhere near it. If it does, don't worry about it, because I will have bought it :D
Well I'm not saying anything wrong about the performance. Will run as good as any other M42, if not better...
I'm just worried about the rust. Rust is like cancer, will eat the car away. Better safe than sorry really. The price as you said does speak for the overall condition, and it is somewhat reasonable. It can be dropped even more without a problem. I'm going to have continue my search for another 318is or even a '25is, that does have a clean body. I really don't care about the mileage.
my search for an e30is continues.i got all the info i need frm u guys w/out calling the owner.
