Welcome!!! Nice color!!

I'm the guy with the other green touring that's always chasing you down to give you a wave

You got yours from off the island didn't you? Welcome to the board. You gotta come out to one of our next meets.

Green is great Touring colour I agree (not that I had a choice!)

You must be the one I've seen in Yaletown a few times. Cool. I came across this post after chatting with 'KDS' whom I spotted on the UK e30 'Runboard' forum. Small world. I'm guessing there must be at least 5 Tourings in the lower mainland?

Yeah, I bought mine from the guy in Victoria. It's the one that was on ebay Canada back in April. It needs a few minor things but it's sure a blast to drive and a true classic design. Timeless.

Cheers.

Hi All:

I'm Ron from Vancouver. I have and '81 633csi that needs alot of work, so much infact that I can now cut things off and do my own customisations without worrying about being original, lol.

I have however just purchased an '88 325is that is in great condition. I'll be adding a few high performance parts and keeping this car running perfectly.

I am interested in finding some storage for my 6 if anyone knows of an inexpensive place.

Thanks,
Ron

Hey Ron,

Welcome to the site. You might want to check out False Creek automotive regarding the storage of your 6. I've talked to the owner and he seems like a knowledgeable guy.

Hi , my name is JB, I live in indiana,3 years ago a major setback forced my neighbor to sell his recently aquired 1988 fully restored 325i cab. It looks and drives like brand new and the offer to sell for instant cash at any offer led me to scarf it for a birthday present for my wife.I had never driven such a magnificent auto in my life! This was my intro into the bimmer world and I drove every model I could test drive.Every model was superb but it was the e30 models that I liked best.2 years ago I started my search for a E30 M3. Man let me tell you, finding one is hard enough and then the money they want is incredible let's face it most had been tracked to death, 150.000 plus miles etc,. I just plain gave up.When I did, something funny happened. One Saturday afternoon I plopped down on the back porch with the early edition sunday paper and I could'nt believe my eyes, a 1990 m3 listed in the local paper! I was at the sellers house 15 minutes later {this thing is getting long winded so I'll cut to the chase}I bought it,82.000 miles, all bone stock except for yellow koni's.I hope all you guys realize, wait a little while, everything will come to you in time. Peace, JB

Welcome to Bimmerclassics JB,

Motoyen, the head honcho over here runs motoyen.com. Check that out too, tons of E30 M3 stuff over there. These cars are getting rarer and rarer, so count yourself lucky to have found your car. We have a few members on the board looking for M3s as well. They don't just pop up everywhere. Post some pics and info in the showroom.

Welcome new members. Alex I fixed the link to your site. Good looking site BTW, let me know when it's up and running and I'll add it to the links section. Good condition E30 M3's are getting harder and harder to find. I can't remember the last time I even saw one for sale in the paper. Good find HB, now post some pics for us.

Kevin here.
I've just bought an 87 325i, completely stock, 180K on it, still has the original floormats in it. It's added to the quiver, as I also have a 1980 Fiat spyder (not the best car for vancouver) a Scirocco that was bought to be a rally car, a truck a motorcycle...its a sickness
Around 15 years ago I worked for a BMW dealer and had since forgot how good these cars are. I was coming down the highway tonight and I thought, bloody hell, I should've done this sooner!

So I'm in the market for another late model E30 to swap most of my parts into .
Actually going to look at a '89 tomorrow .

I will spare you guys the agony of looking at my crash pics .

So you don't have the e21 anymore? I still remember back on the roadfly when you were posting the pics of your e21 peeling out all the time.

Teaguer
01-31-2005, 12:49 PM
Thanks for the warm welcome and kind comments guys .
Sorry but I don't really have any good interior shots , for some reason I never got around to taking any .

Heres a crappy pic of the interior that I have :
http://members.roadfly.com/RIAC/seats01.jpg

The ft sport seats I had re-padded and recovered in black & grey velour .
Also changed the center portion stiching to vertical instead of horizontal .
Never got around to doing the rear seat as first I plan on swapping in a M3 seat .
The interior has since been changed to all black and I've also done a 5-spd swap .

Motoyen : Good eye . Yes I did the shadowline myself , but I only got around to doing the drivers side .
Hiro , I also liked the look of the chrome trim on a black car .
I liked the way it framed the windows and seemed to stand out on my all black car .
I had always wanted to try the shadowline to see how it looked , I held out for 2.5 years .
After my LR window was broken during a break-in I was forced to install a window from a earlier modekl that had the chrome trim :
http://v6toys.com/is/damage/breakin/19.jpg

Since I had to paint the window surround it was a good time to also do the shadowline .
Painted the chrome trim and all of my black trim with a semi-flat black paint , the results were great , I just never got aroung to doing the passenger side .

Doug : Haha , yeah those were the good old days .
I've still got the E21 tucked away although its a bit of a basketcase at this point .
Can you believe that I actually sold what was left of my wrecked 323i ?
Yeah some guy bought it about 2 months ago without the ft subframe or the rear discs .

So I've basically got the E21 320/325 , a '92 525 , a parts car '89 325i and my black 325is .
Hey I've also been known to do a burnout or two in the E30 :
http://members.roadfly.com/tigger3/sig17.jpg
http://v6toys.com/is/burnout03.jpg

BTW heres what you get if when you don't have any mercy for your tires :
http://members.roadfly.com/tigger2/burnout11.jpg

Thanks again guys , I'll start a thread in the showroom with pics some time in the near future .

Hahaha , excellent p-shop man .
I can't believe that you spotted the shadowline but you missed what I wrote in the same post :
The interior has since been changed to all black and I've also done a 5-spd swap .

Heres a few current interior shots : (right after the break-in)
http://v6toys.com/is/damage/breakin/08.jpg
http://v6toys.com/is/damage/breakin/10.jpg

Yeah I originally bought this car with the intent to bring it back to its previous pristine state and resell it .
I had 2 other Bimmers at the time and since I bought this as a repo car and intended to sell it , being a auto did not matter .
But after driving a bit I remembered how fond of my E30's I had been , I still claim to be a E21 guy at heart though .
Once I started driving it everyday I swapped in a 5-spd .
I could not own a auto Bimmer and enjoy it , well both my E34's were auto's but they are a different car than the nimble 3'er .

Speaking of the tires , heres the before pic :
http://members.roadfly.com/tigger2/burnout09.jpg
And after :
http://members.roadfly.com/tigger2/burnout10.jpg
http://members.roadfly.com/tigger2/burnout12.jpg

Theres also a pic or two floating around of the pads being so hot that they are emmiting flames .

Nice Shirt by the way
Thanks . Only the best will do .

I will have pics of it in colour by the middle of this week.

I've also got another bare, rolling 2002 shell, a rust free(yes, I'm serious) 77 630csi shell, a rusty Euro 635csi, and my daily driver 83 633csi. I'll post pics of all of them eventually.

In addition to all those, I'm always looking after someone else's BMW, and am currently doing a ground up resto on a 73 2002, and also on a 70 2800cs for clients.

Hi everyone,

As of this past Monday, I am now the proud owner of 2 of my favorite BMW models. I've had my Blue Metallic '89 Euro 635CSi for a few months now...but I've just purchased an immaculate Granite Silver '91 318is. Some of you may remember the 318is from the recent Concourse Event @ Waterfront Park last month where the previous owner received a 2nd place award in the modified E30 category (I think that was the category?). I myself, also parked my 635 up on the far end of the lawn with the other 6's for a few hours before I had to leave.

I met some really nice people that day...looking for forward to meeting more E30 owners now! I'm always up for a meet...!

Take care,
B.

hi guys..

Can't compete with Blake's post above, but i have an 88 325is.. reasonably heavily modified (engine, brakes, suspension), by the previous owner. I took over the project and have taken care of some needed body work (had a posting on the BMWCCBC website) and recently installed a short shift at Nixon. :buttrock:

Hopefully i can get a pic or two and someone can show me how to add it or post it here.

will be at the meet on Sunday, looking forward to meeting up (and getting some ideas on where to focus my attention and money)..

till then

Hello all,
I'm been on this site for a while now, but never introduced myself. I'm 31 years old, live in Delaware and I'm an architectural designer (soon to be architect.) I currently own a '91 E30 M3, '96 740il, and '05 Lotus Elise. The M3 I have owned since 1997. 100% stock and about 99% original. I learned to drive on my dad's 1975 2002, which he recently finished restoring. I'll post some pics soon. My wife drives the 740, and the Lotus is my daily driver. The M3 was my daily driver until 2003 when I bought a Mini Cooper S. The Mini was traded for the Lotus. Hopefully I can contribute some good Bimmer threads.

Hey, Hey! Just been a member here for a few days now and like what I see. I joined this Forum/Club because of all the local cars/peps here.

Got my Bimmer in December: a 1987 325, traded an Intrepid straight up for it!
I have several hobbies as you can see in my bio. Now my newest one is keeping this car running good and waiting 'till the wife lets me trade up to a 'is' model.

Cheers, Crispy

Hi Everyone,

I'm kind of new to the forum. I signed up back in August 2006 but didn't do anything except just reading up on what you guys discuss -- really interesting stuff and learned tons and still learning tons from you guys -- especially the senior members.

I only got one car -- an e46-- not a classic by far. It's my daily driver. I got it used but loved it & pampered it ever since I bought it. Although I don't drive a classic e30 but I always envy and really respect those who can keep their classics, especially 2002 and e30, in top fit condition inside / out while keeping them pretty much stock. I often visit the "Showroom" section of the forum and everytime it just makes my jaw drop to the floor. (I love your pair of cars, Blakeoffire and Luis/Mike)

Hope I can afford to have an e30 as a second car one day -- nicely restored and proudly driving it. I love the 91 318is or an e30 325 cabrio with m-tech kit. Man, those are gorgeous!

Hey everybody,

I'm new to this forum. I was introduced to it by Mike, whose 318ic I saw on CL and prompted me to ask him about it.

I have a '92 325ic which I purchased about six months ago from the original owner. I had been happily driving my '90 325i but when I saw this car I had to have it. I remember back in '92 I was 17 and couldn't stop dreaming about this car :) It's all stock right now except for red turn signals at the rear and smoked turn signals in the front.

I always look out for nice E30's around Vancouver but I've never seen so many as I have on this site. Where do all you guys hide? I look forward to seeing y'all's rides one day. Meanwhile, I'll be cruising the forums and talking to you guys looking for nice mod ideas.

Oh and if someone could recommend me a good mechanic that'd be great too.

Cheers,

Would it be a social faux pas to suggest Classic Image Automotive as a mechanic for you? Seeing as it's my shop, and all.

We look after a pile of E30's, many from this board, as well as E28's, 2002's, E9's, E24's, E36's, etc.

I got wind of it off of the BMWCCBC web site, but it probably is the same one. He said he had to sell it by the end of june when he graduates from BCIT auto mechanics course and heads back home to Hong Kong, so he probably advertised it everywhere.
Not to many issues found yet other than 20 year old car issues. Suspension bushes etc are getting soft, previous owner lowered it a little to much for my liking.( can't get it down my driveway) Runs well, motor rebuilt 3-4 years ago, The Cam cover and air accumulator still need to be repainted. Overall a nice tinker for a while.

Hi Gregory. Is your E24 an actual L6? Leather dash, console, door panels, etc? Is it badged 635csi, or L6 on the back?

Al

M635
12-21-2007, 11:53 AM
Yep its an L6 from California. But for some reason my dash isn't leather. But when I checked it history and all, it did state it was an L6. My console, my panels, everything else is leather, except for the top of the dash, is black plastic. My glove box, my control dash, is leather. I'll get some interior pics today if you like. There is no badge L6, just 635CSi. But its definatley an L6.

Here's some pictures. The front seats need to be gone. I want Recaro's, but can't seem to find any in grey. So I'm just going to buy any color, and re-upholster them. The rear seats are in mint condition, no one has sat in it, no cracks, no nothing.

There was a large recall campaign from BMW, because of the leather dashes. They shrunk and cracked like mad when new, so many were replaced with plastic dashes. Thats likely what happened to yours. As for the badge, an L6, just like an M6, should be badged as such. Perhaps someone rebadged it at some point.

12-21-2007, 12:11 PM
Well its a good thing it was replaced then! And as for the badge, you mean L6, not M6 =P Though the badge that I bought it with, was the big chrome one, "635CSi". I didn't like it, so my dad's freind gave me another one, that was all one peice. I'm not too sure if you know what it looks like, but its a long black plastic peice, that reads 635CSi, all on one badge.

hehe nice save! The funny thing was, when I first bought it, I thought it was an ordinary 635CSi, but it came to the point where I had to check my tires air, so I looked at the sticker on the driver side door. I looked at it, and I was like what?! It says L6! The seller didn't even know LOL. So I looked at its papers, read them over, and it did say it was a Luxury 6. :D

How come most of the 6 series cars are autoboxes? damn.

Towards the end of the 80's, 6ers were getting pretty fat, and EXPENSIVE! Most were bought by rich guys, as status symbols. They were competing against the MBZ 560SEC, and the Jaguar XJ-S. If guys were into sheer performance, they bought an M6, all of which were manual.

Many of the earlier 6ers were manual, up until about 85/6. My 77 is one of only 152 with automatic trans that year. That said, mine is now a 5 speed.

Footnote - In 89, only 75 6ers were built with manual trans.

I'm a newbie to this forum. Just found out about it a couple of weeks ago when al mentioned something on MyE28. I'm currently buried in snow in our Nation's Capital.

I have 3 BMWs right now, out of the six I've owned over the years.

My daily driver is an '88 Euro 735i with an unknown amount of km over 300k. It was one of the early e32s with the known Odo problem - stops at 299996 km. The car has been repainted in it's original colour (Luxorbiege) and has an almost perfect interior. Sorry, no pics at this time.

My "toys" are an '86 M5 and an '84 M635CSi:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee79/Old_School_BMW/Brothers.jpg

I've still got the original TRXs for both cars. The 6er has the three-piece BBS wheels, which look great, but for the cost of new rubber plus a few bucks I got the Alpinas with Pirellis (those are original open-lug Alpinas). The M5 got a full set (5) of original 16" cross-spokes. A PITA to clean, but really set the car off nicely. I'm also a bit of a stickler for originality, or at least "period correct" though I'm not going that route for sound systems.

I've only owned three other BMWs over the years - an '03 325i (the only one I got from new - Euro delivery), a '90 e30 320i coupe (Euro) and a car I would have kept if it hadn't been such a basket case - an '85 745i.

Very nice cars Jay, and welcome.

Your E28 M5 is from the Uk? or Europe? Must have the coveted M88 instead of the lowly S38 thats in my Cdn. spec E28 M5:redface: Looks like black interior as well.

Drool... and drool some more.

Wow, what a great collection. Would love to see more pics of all 3 in the future, seeing as how a get-together isn't really forseeable... :D

Welcome to the site too...

The E24 has a cone filter kit that is going to be replaced by the original filter box when I can find one. I prefer originality or period performance mods. It has Racing Dynamics springs (original green, the original Italian mother company) and Bilstein sports as the only performance mods. As you can see, the springs lower it about 1." Other than that, it's stock, though due for a bunch of work since I bought it without records.

As for specs, both cars have the M88 engine rated at 286 hp, and both are non-cat (thankfully old enough to avoid Ontario's Drive Clean). The M5 has a chip that improves mid-rev range performance. If you're familiar with the early M-cars you know that they like high revs, which means they tend to lug below 3000. The chip is not in production, so I can't say any more about it.

The M5 dynoed a few months ago at 247 RWhp, which is pretty well on spec if you allow 15% for the drive line.

Both cars were Japanese origin, though I bought the M635 from a guy in Kelowna who had originally bought it from Japan.

M88 isn't that the same engine thats in an m1?

The M1 road car had the M88/1 with 277hp. When they decided to do the M635CSi they had to install the engine at an angle and put in a wet sump (M1 used dry sump), and in the process "tweaked" the head for a slight increase in compression to get the extra 9 hp. The M88 in the M635CSi and e28 M5 is the M88/3. The interveneing M88/2 was, I think, the 400-ish hp monster in the Procar M1s.

Both are Euro, but sent to Japan from the factory. M5 is black half-leather (everything is leather except the dash and the headliner). While I like the diamond black metallic, part of me wishes it was the basic black of the NA-spec cars, which would be easier to correct the blemishes in the paint.

I think I was the one who almost bought your M5 Mark. Last year I was in Edmonton. I balked due to the compression on one cyl (I remember the issue with the shop that did the PPI - I'm sorry about that).

I get the impression that we're both happier for it though - you keep your rare black/black NA-spec M5 and I ended up with a Euro spec car. :D

Did you get the compression issue sorted? Was it a valve issue or major head work?

Wow small world!! It was actually owned by a friend of mine at the time you were considering it. I paid him $4k less than he was asking from you as he had just bought another boat and was anxious to sell.
Which allowed me to promptly put it back in the car!
The low cylinder has not been sorted, I suspect it's in the valve train and when the timing components are re and re'd this year the head will be done as well. I just cant see the rings being bad in one cylinder but a leak down and another comp. test should tell the story.
540i rear brakes to sort out the brake bias, new OEM exhaust, rear sub frame bushings and a few other items are next on the list before the major work begins. I still laugh at the PPI done by CG Motorsports, the prices they affixed to each item requiring work were outrageous. $850 for subframe bushings, $1200 for new muffler (i paid $678 for centre and rear) $600 for pitman arms repl. on and on and on.....

TonyVA, in Tidewater VA. Naval Officer of 27 years, own a 535i I've had since new in 1985 and the M30 still going strong after 210+ miles. Also, until about 2 years ago had E28 M5 that I baby'd. Someone decided they liked it more than I did and came into the house took keys and in the process placed all my quick sell materials on board (computers, digital cameras etc) and simply drove off. By the time it was found engine, seats, self leveling system pump and reservoir, wheels, center console and steering wheel were all but history and of course the insurance decided to total it. Without the components above there was no sense in buying it back so I am down to the 535i. Good to see so many classic enthusiasts on one useful board and look forward to some good discussions.

Hi Guys;

Been lurking for a while to help in my purchasing decision making process.
Now its time to reveal myself:

Just got an E30 last night. Its a 1991 Black M3. (well, its very very dark grey, not quite black). I struggled with the decision for a while; taking threee trips to the previous owner to look at it.

Also took it a mechanic in Burnaby (Nixon) for a go thro before buying the car.
It all checked out (i met a fellow from this group at the garage too - BimmerHead is his handle i think. Thanks for your words of encouragement!!)

I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment.
I drove it in nose to tail traffic in rush hour last evening, and the clutch and gearbox are not fun in those conditions.

Waiting for good weather to be able to test it in full.

Thanks for reading...

Sounds Good! I actually put my first note on an e30 today! Theres a parking lot about 5 minutes away from Uvic along the bus route that a lot of people park at, and when I got back to my car today someone had parked a nice clean 89+ 325is beside mine, I just wrote the name of this site down+nice car.

yeah I was drinking coffee at my workplace Starbucks and an e30 cabby pulled up. Everything was stock except for the exhaust but the owner didn't know what it was. Anyways I thought it was a 92 (like mine) but it's a 93 325ic (built Feb 93), only 111k, brot on black sport leather interior, 5spd. Only has the i lip and b-caps but other than that, it's MINT. Gave him a card with this site written on it.

Once thing that really got me...Prices of 'em have changed dramatically in the couple of years since i last looked. Still suffering sticker shock...

I'm sure i'll be happy once i get to drive it for "fun". So far, in city traffic...its frustration central, and no chance to wind it. As for meeting - im YVR and BBY mostly....

[QUOTE=Mr. Red;30951]..did you buy the one that was for sale in west van by any chance?

Yep!
I actually found it thanks to a chat with Ryan at an independant shop in BBY (Nixons). If i'd have known it was in the papers too, i'd maybe have acted quicker than i did. haha.

A few years ago E30 M3s were - according to those knowing more than i - subject to the 15K rule. (either buy a fully sorted one for around that value, or get a cheaper one and spend up to that to get it straight).

What happened in the last two years to golder shower all over that one?
Looking at s14.net its getting retarded price wise...

Anyway..i'm still coming to terms with the car. Out for the first drive in it this afternoon..once ive finished watching the rugby whilst surfing this site...

Pics once i remember where i put the camera....

Hello all,
My name is Dave, I live in the currently cold province of Sask. I came
accross this website by following a link from I think the BC club website,
anyhow I have owned 7 older BMW's over the last 12 years 4 e28's and 3
e30's. Currently I have an '87 325is and an '89 325ix. If I was to pick a favourite I would say it was my white on black 535is with manual sport seats,
Bilsteins, H&R springs, grunt front bushings, Racing Dynamics swaybars and strut tower brace , Conforti chip, and Falken Azenis 205/55-16 RT215's, it was a superb handling car that could do wonderfull things on an autox course
without even working hard, I sold it to buy a '92 400e.... now that was a mistake....
I am looking forward to joining in on some of the discussions and learning and hopefully contributing along the way
Cheers,
Dave.

Hey! So I'm completely new to BMWs, Till now I've driven/raced Datsun 510s and my toyota corolla... but this car came up for sale so I jumped on it. It is destined to become an Ice Racer, Hill climb, Rally car.

no idea what year it actualy is.. I do know its a 318 with a 2.0.. so I I can only assume a 320 motor? also has an LSD.. 320 as well?

the car needs a little work.. the lack of lights is no good for the racing I plan doing and I can;t stand dents!! Currently I am installing lexan glass all round and trying to pound the panels back into shape so I can bolt lights back in.

anyways hears what the ar looks like as of now. the decals are going away as I have a paint job of my own I plan doing. lotsa work ahead of me :)

Hello to everyone. I bumped into bimmer_adam today and we chatted about my newly acquired 1991 318is (Hi Adam!). It was really great to meet another enthusiast and when he suggested that I would meet many more on bimmerclassics, well, I just had to join. Nice to see many members who are local. Its nice because I need help with the project to clean up my car and could stand some advice on how to take off interior bits and so on. My interior is a bit tired (the car's that is) and I hope to replace some broken bits. Any opinions on a good shop manual? I've heard Bentley's is pretty good except it doesn't cover my engine. I must admit my bias towards revvy four cylinder motors and find the M42 feels really good. I hope to take this car out for some exercise on the track.

Hello everyone.

I'm Joni's husband, Av. I am the grease-monkey assisting her in turning a heavily abused 89 325i back into a respectable road worthy machine.

In the meantime, I'm pretty focused on the economy, politics, and conspiracy theories. If anyone wants to put on a tinfoil hat with me sometime, hit me up.

Hi Ian! Welcome! Glad to see you here! I needed another car due to a job change so I bought the closest thing I could find to my old one!

I miss my old car but mostly I miss the Alpinas!

We need to meet up once the weather turns in April.

I don't think I've ever seen so many locals in a single forum! I bought a 95 540i about a year ago. So far I've put in a new heater core this Jan, idler arm and BavAuto thrust arms with the eurothane bushings. So far it's made a great inexpensive daily driver for my short commute and endless sporting events for the kids. I really need to get the steering to stop creaking though!! The idler arm didn't do it.

Currently investigating summer rims. I put snows on the stock basketweaves and am looking for something a little more aggressive for summer jaunts. Staggered M-Pars would of course be ideal, but rather pricey.

I'll probably end up with a few dumb questions being new to BMW. I'm an ex-volvo driver after owning 9 of the Suedes (none of the fords).

Hey guys,

New to this place, originally from Toronto, moved back to Vancouver 2 years ago and still looking for a local bmw forum to call home. Owned an 89 325i in Toronto sold it, picked up an 94 320i, and then moved back to Vancouver and last week I picked up another 89 325i, with a toasted head so I'm just rebuilding it now. I'm pretty familiar with both e30's and e36 mechanically.

Just thought I'd throw a hey out there.

I'm in Vancouver and I've just bought a '91 318is. It's my first Bimmer! Looking forward to getting it fixed up and running smoothly. It needs a bunch of work: suspension, headlights (anyone have some hellas with a xenon kit?), etc... I'm also looking for a LSD.

Gday All,

I'm Ellis, from Australia. I became aware of this forum through M635 via bigcoupe. I've been having a bit of a look around, there's some nice photo work here and thought I'd join up seeing as this place is all about classics.

I have an '86 635CSi which I've owned for just on one year now, and a '77 633CSi which I've had for around 15 years.

I have a good bunch of 6er driving mates down here and we go on semi-regular cruises when we get the chance. I look forward to sharing these adventures with you in the future and am also keen to see some of the stuff you guys get up to.

I'll whack up some pictures in the Showroom.

Hello all, new to the site. Hopefully will get a lot of help from you all. Just bought my first bimmer. 90 325i conv, love this car.
So it does have some minor cosmetic issues, but the engine runs awesome. If anyone knows of a place that repair bmew seats or sell them at reasonable price, the rear seat seams coming apart.
Thanks.

Any ideas on where to get reasonably priced seats ( leather).
Will be posting pictures soon.

For leather seats, your best choice is to look around parts cars. You might land on something pretty good. What color is your interior anyways?

No man, don't go there, they are a rip-off and you RARELY get any good deals, if that. Very hard to negotiate with, and are very, very firm on their prices. Best is looks around first, you could find good deals.

Hi altogether!

Just registered here, since I'm (once more) just about to become a proud BMW owner.

I'm orginally from Germany & moved to Winnipeg 2 years ago & now finally came across a suitable summertoy, 1982 E24 633Csi.

My earlier BMW's were: '81 E21 316, '79 E21 318 Baur, '81 E23 745i, '88 E32 750i

The car is in a pretty good & almost completely original condition, dash unfortunately has rips, there's aftermarket windowtint in there that's more purple than black (yikes, anybody got a tip how easily to get rid of that?), beige leather seats have already been redone, both fenders are rusty along the upper edge towards the hood (any experiences how deep that goes underneath?), factory rims & steering wheel will have to go (anybody got something interesting for sale, Turbine's, Ronal Turbo or classic Kreuzspeiche, 16" or 17", what's the whole pattern, 5x108 or 5x110?), cruise & sunroof ain't working, he said he couldn't get parts.
The car is sold by a not yet fully retired Mercedes salesman, he owned it since '94 & says he put around 20k$ in, engine & tranny got 20 000km since rebuild, recent brakes & exhaust, most of the work done @ his Mercedes shop.

I've seen a pic of an E24 somewhere with white front turn signal glasses, does anybody know where to get them?

Since the car is in such a nice original condition, I do not intend to do larger irreversible modifications, guess some nice lights (stronger fullbeams, euro-lowbeam, LED's all around) wheels & maybe chrometint make a nice cruiser out of it.

Thanks for having me in the forum, Ben

Well I guess I'll introduce myself.

I'm pretty sure there are a few people that know me from dubberz.com ( 83RedRoc )

Finally got out of the wrong German brand, Sold my Scirocco ( to someone on here I think ) and my GTI, and decided to grow up a little bit and picked up an 88 528e. I just wanted something nice and smooth that I wouldn't be paying an arm and a leg at the pump. And can fit a baby seat in the back.. but I'm trying to not think of that. ( ha ha )

So far I'm really impressed with the new car. It has about 265,000 kms, has a couple shopping cart dings, a rip in the drivers seat, but still an amazing car. Luckily it had a very loving owner before me, was always serviced. I found a nice gem of a sticker under all the dust that the timing belt was replaced 15,000 miles ago. Saves me some work!

I've had to re do the stereo, as either the deck/fader/amp was not working anymore. When it was sold to me the sunroof wasn't working, some quick diagnosis came to the rear defrost ( shared circuit with the roof ) was shorting. Replaced the fuse don't touch the defrost and the roof works!

It still has a few things to work on but why else would you buy a 20 year old car if you didn't want something to do right?

I'll have a few pictures up soon, It needs a serious claybar/wax/wheel cleaning day though.

There are lots on craigslist here, Eta' s are generally the ugly ducklings no one wants, so they can be had for cheap. The fact that they haven't had the hp pounding on the driveline usually lead to them not being driven hard, and can be had in pretty good shape.

I'd know I just got mine! good luck.

I have no power (318) so I wait till it rains and then slide it around like I wish I could on dry pavement. I have a black dog cage/divider thing in the back so you'll not it's me.... Hi,

We've got 2 BMW's in the family. My son has a 1984 318i Euro with 155,000 original Km. It was purchased in Koln Germany and lived there until it was imported into Vancouver in 2002. We bought it from a guy in Victoria in January. It is white with blue cloth and is a totally stock M10 with a 4 speed.

The neat thing about this car is that it came with the German owner's manual. That's not a big deal in itself but what's cool is that the service record is absolutely and totally complete. Every single recommended service in the book was completed, stamped and signed. There is not a single blank square in the book.

We suffered some minor vandalism last week - driver's door mirror broken off and antenna snapped, too. I replaced the mirror but still need help finding an OEM telescopic non-power antenna.

Our daily driver is a 2003 E46 325iT wagon - sport package, 5-speed, silver/black. It is a beauty.

Hi,

Just bought my first bimmer last month and I have only good things to say about the car. It's a 1991 318is in Vancouver. Previous owner is a regular on these boards who goes by applecran. He's my brother-in-law and he was kind enough to offer me the coupe at fair value.

Maintenance, repairs and upgrades on the car is a new hobby for me, so excuse my lack of mechanical knowledge as you read my future threads/posts. I've worked on the 318 a handful of times with Adam before transferring ownership and a few more times on my own so I'm learning.

As my interest for cars began to focus on bimmers, my eyes have been opened to the classics that roam Vancouver. I've always favoured the retro look and the E30 is just slick. I'm sure this one's a keeper... now I need to schedule time to research and work on the car...
