Just seeing if there are any interests here.
- I bought H&R Sports Lowering springs and Bilstein Sport shocks brand new from RPI. The set has seen only around 2000km of driving time.
- I dont drive much, and I can prove it to you with my receits from when I had servicing done too. I bought the car at around 1714**km in June 2004. I just got a servicing done at 174092 last week.
Bought for 1130 with tax. I know I can't get the tax back, which sets me back to 986.98.
Having said that, I'm looking for $850 no less.
If I don't get what I'm looking for, I will just keep'em.
Thanks for looking.
- Hiro

How come you're looking to sell them?

How come you're looking to sell them?
buying coilvers. That was my initial plan, but I was impatient so I went out and bought the H&Rs and Bilsteins.. spur of the moment thing.

Keep in mind with coilovers you'll have to have each corner of the car weighed to make sure they're adjusted properly every time you make an adjustment. IMO that's a PITA... Persoanlly I think you should keep the set you have now and save your money for something else...
My 2 cents

thx for the advice.
I'm only going to buy the coilovers iff I can sell my current setup for the price I want.

Hiro I would keep your current set up. I think CO's are overkill for your car. I have the same set up and I am very happy with it. I would spend the money on wheels instead or get a chip.

you two are like parents - practical and realistic :D
I will see what happens. I doubt that I can so easily sell my current setup in which case I would just keep myself happy with the setup.
Hoping to buy wheels soon, I've been looking at used wheels, but then in case that they are stolen, Im screwed, so I started looking at new wheels from Tunershop. I'll see what happens.

If I were you I'd get a set of Ronal LS rims, they're perfectly suited for the E30.

Yeah, Ronals are sweet. The 2 rims I would get would be BBS RX's and Ronals.. But I think if you get ronals, its such a slight difference I don't know if it's "worth while" to get ones so similar to basketweaves. My opinion anyways.

I like the Ronal LSs as well. And I think it makes a huge difference in the way the car looks.
But I wanna be different and get something else

Corner weighting is only necessary if you need absolute perfect geometry, as in using it as a full out race car. Otherwise, as long as the adjustments being made aren't major, you don't even really need an alignment if done properly.
I say get coils and drop it like it's hot. :D

Personally I wouldn't want it any other way, I can't stand things not being perfect but that's me. I stand by my comment, save you money for something else.

thanks for that link.
I saw that earlier, but I decided not to bid on it, seeing as brand new they are only 399US, and that way I get to choose my spring rate, not too mention they'd be brand new.
Well I considered using the GCs, but I think I have changed my mind again. I'm probably gonna stick with my setup for now, unless someone comes along and hands me the cash.
I change my mind wayyyy too much. I still wanna get a M3 still, I have too many things on my mind.

IMO 850 is too much :)
i got my stage 3 IE for 240 US shipped. (288 cad)
bilstein should be around 450 cad shipped and those are brand new.
total = less than 750 for brand new set :)

Good for you. Thanks for your opinion, but I won't be lowering the price for anyone;
If I don't get what I'm looking for, I will just keep'em.
And I'm getting rid of the car now, so I'm just going to leave them in..
$240US shipped is a nice price for those springs. Did you get it on a group buy or something? Though I'd rather stick with the big brand name and get the H&R Race springs haha
And let me know where you can get Bilstein Sports shipped for 450 CAD, I'd get another set now just in case the price goes up. I'm planning on using it for the next car.
And i'm sure Chad will be jumping up and down too if we can get BIlstein Sports for 450 CAD shipped, that's a damn good price, considering Shox.com (which i think is the chepest place ?) has them for around 370 US IIRC. :D

Yah, I'm usually a pretty honest person and I like keeping records so I pay duty at the border
Unless you plan on swapping the parts in the states and ditching your OE stuff, then I don't see how you can avoid the duty as well as tax wholly.
If you lie about not bringing anyting back and get caught, you get $%^&ed. You claim very little amount, but have no receit to prove it, they will also $%^& you over - that's simply speaking from personal experience, so may or may/not be the case all the time.
If you do honestly claim the Bilsteins at the border, well duty isn't pretty.
I was down there with my girlfriend the other day, she bought a swimsuit at Abercrombie for 60US. She had to pay 33CAD in duty
BTW, why do you ship to Seattle, why not just ship it to Blaine that's right across the border?
People always say, just ship to the states, but unless you plan on doing the swap while down there, and ditching your original stuff (which is something I never like to do), I don't see how it's so much more beneficial. You may save a few bucks in the end, but then you gotta figure out if the hassle was worth it.
If you know of a better way of smuggling stuff in , let me know. Maybe I'm just missing something... :D

actually my friend lives there, so why spend 2 bucks for each boxes on blaine while you can visit a friend and stay over there for a night or two while enjoying seattle life.
what you said is true
say
- gift , value less than 50 bucks
- back up parts bought from vancouver
- hide or spread over small parts
- throw away boxes
- etc
how can you pay a duty? you said you buy something ?
you can always said you brought the swimsuit from vancouver.

border people know there's no A&F in Canada. Plus sometimes they're real jerks. Went down to a casino in the states before, coming back she asked us why we went there, how did we find out about it.... omg, what the fock is your problem border lady :)

Yah.. for most cases, I would rather just tell the truth and avoid any means of confrontation.
US Custom people are always friendly to me, but the Canadian Customs look at me like I smuggled over in a boat and obtained a fake citizenship card

Here's a tip, don't drive your BMW across the border. Borrow your mom's old civic. Having a 20-something kid driving a bimmer will cause problems. When I drove a tercel I never once got pulled over, and barely even got questions, but my bro in a 240 gets hassled every time

You didn't declare that stuff? You got off lucky then.
Buddy of mine bought a cell off ebay, delared it for $100 then the called his bluff, checked his ebay account and found out it was $400. He got fined and some kind of infraction thing.

I hate customs. I got a set of brake pads from the states. $151 cdn. Canadian customs had a typo and charged me tax on $1510. Instead of paying duty of 24 bucks, I had to pay 240. It's been almost 3 months and I'm still waiting for my refund.

Damn. Just as bad as one of those "mail in rebates", lol. Hope you get it soon!
I bought a lens not to long ago and brought it back over the boarder, they put on the claim receipt that it was a "car part"...a camera lens!!
Where can you check how much they're suppose to charge on items?

I hate the border. If I'm truthful going across the border, I get f'ed. I just save the hassle and get things deliver to my door.
I have had the best experience with USPS so far.
I hate UPS, and my opinion is to stay away from them. Not only our my packages delivered slow, they always rapes me on fees, and they sent a collections agency after me for something that I had already paid. It took me more than 5 months, and numerous phone calls to clear it all up. (end rant).

I just recieved a package from BMA for about $270CAD, and I thought Patrick said that there would be no duty fee on it, but I still had to pay $40 for customs for some reason...
But I'm sure it still works out to be much cheaper than if I purchased the parts locally (or atleast that's what I keep telling myself).

Even if it's duty free, if it was shipped by, for example UPS, they charge an outlandish 'brokerage fee' for bringing it into the country.
Which absolutley crap, talking to somone does this and he says its basically robbery. They pile all the shipments from the states onto a skid, send it through and then charge the recipient the 'brokerage fees'.

what did you buy from there? 40 bucks isn't that much on a 270, considering if you bought the stuff here, tax alone would be like 40 bucks...

Z3 1.9 short shift kit
M3 offset control arm bushings (2)
OEM trailing arm bushings (4)
E46 M3 convertable rear shock mounts (2)
And I'm hoping to win a bid on some Bilstein HD's online (for freakishly cheap, never mounted) and either getting M3 springs or H&R OE Sports (probably for ~$170USD shipped). I'll probably go for the H&R's (no point to half-ass it now since I'm in so deep :)). The last thing on the list is the Powerflex urethane subframe bushings. It's gonna be a steep cost for labour (apparently subframe bushings alone are a good 4-5 hours?), but atleast I won't have to go back under the suspension for a heck of a long time.

OE Sports are the Sports for the 318is. See pics of my car. The drop is like 1.25-5" in the front.
I don't think that the M3 springs drop the car very much at all. Especially not with the 318is. Maybe .5" at the best?
