Hi all,
Realized today I don't know the mentioned engines redline. I'm using the e30 "i" instrument cluster, so im wondering if they're the same.
Tends' to rev up easy, so better I know.

Nice! I'd love to see that car. Any pics? What did you do for the brake booster? (e21 or ix?) I guess you had to retrofit the O2 sensors for the OBDII
Hey again,
I'll post some current pics tonight. If you want, they're are pics on my slightly dated website from when I was about half way through.
the car should be 95% complete this weekend, and on the road next week. Just waiting for the custom A/C lines(today hopefully), and a coolant temp sensor.
Otherwise, besides' a wheel alignment and A/C charge, its good to go.
Brake booster is from a e21, modified to fit. Works great. Currently only running the 2 pre-cat o2 sensors. Still debating whether or not to install them, and the post-cat O2 sensors. Opinion seems to be divided.

wow, I'm speechless. You have really turned that car around!
Now will you come down to Vancouver, and pop one of those M52s in my engine bay? :D
btw, was it difficult to do the bumper swap?
Hey Hiro,
The front bumper/spoiler pretty much bolted on. The rear was a *****. The later body e30 are different on the rear. The bumpers on my car had to be trimmed and molded(with a heat gun)where they meet the rear wheel opening. It just would'nt fit stock. The later cars have a recess, in the body, for the bumper to fit.
I also made the lower valance below the rear bumper to look more like the later cars. I think it looks much better than the early style.

Hehe... dropping the engine/tranny in only took about 20 mins. It was actually one of the easier jobs. Bloody wiper linkage removal was worse.

John, I'm soo amazed at how you transformed the car! Certainly does not look like a 600 dollar car!
Did you re-upolster your seats in leather or vinyl? Interior looks flawless as well.

What a cool project, nice work! One day you'll have to make it to Vancouver so we can all admire your handy work. Are you planning on lowering it too? That would finish it off nicely. I love the upholstry job, if I didn't have a dog I'd consider getting mine re-done too. Please post more high res pics when it's finished and cleaned up, let know how you like the M52

Are you planning on lowering it too?
lol!, I've been asked that by several people.
Truth is, it has H&R Sportline springs installed, along with new gas strut's/shocks, so I think that's the reason it looks a little high.
After it gets some km's on it, with my 200 lbs butt in it, I hope it will tuck up a little more. Every other e30 I've seen with the same springs sit way lower, so Im not sure why mine is up like that.
The seats were redone in imitation leather. I actually was fooled looking at some redone seats, thinking they were leather. This stuff is super soft, and really holds you in place. You don't slide at all in them. Best of all, none of the upkeep BS/worries(past experiences) you have with real leather. Im totally sold on it.
Just to mention, the more I see late model e30's(your sig pics) with the deep chin spoiler, the more i kick myself for not getting one for mine. Mine looks a little too plain.

you could try taking the pads out where the spring sits that lowers another 1/4 inch or so maybe half inch. car sounds sweet, and like many other posts say bring it to vancouver! or atleast white rock:) just out of curiosity how much has the whole car costed if you dont mind me asking?
how much has the whole car costed if
as always, it's over budget.i originally planned no more 12-13k, but I'll be around 15k when its over. Most of that is parts.
That being said, most everything has been replaced/repaired. I can't say it's a "new" car, but its definetly restored. I don't plan on doing something this involved again, for a long time. Time to enjoy it.
I'm definetly going to be driving down to Van come May/summer, and as I always take 0 Ave, I'll definetly make Whiterock. I will post before I do.
