Just curious, I'd like to see the difference between the knockoff chips vs a stock ecu vs a real Jim Conforti chip.

I did and the check engine light came on after 2 minutes. Ebay chips are a risky gamble that I wouldn't take again. Mark D's chip is "supposed" to be pretty good, and it's cheaper than the JC plus he's in Ontario so fast shipping and no duty. Also you can get different octane levels, if you want you can even get 93 but then you're using expensive 94. With the price of fuel these days I wouldn't bother cause 92 will be the min and it's .10 more than regular, or $6 per tank. CG also burns their own chips, check their website for more info.

how much are cg's chips? im running an ebay chip didn't notice any gaines other then the limiter. i bought it hoping to fix an idle problem but it didn't help.

I ran a Dinan clone until I pulled it chasing an idle problem that ended up being an unmetered air leak (intake gasket). It released the limiter and as expected from a Dinan map only provided timing advance and kick in the butt at high RPM (>4000). Now that I'm back to 87 octane and OEM chip I'm not really missing the "advantage".

kow,
Mine is a '92 325i triple white M-Tech cabrio. I drive into MC transporting water polo players that live over there on a regular basis. Alas that usually is done in my 7 passenger '95 Aerostar XLT. I've got pics of things I've fixed on the car and my fancy new valve cover and intake paint job that whimsically happened when chasing and repairing a blown intake gasket. There's a couple pics on print film but none with the digital believe it or not. The cars begging for a wash and wax. I'll snap a couple shot then, but they won't be ideal since I punctured and tore up a tire on the white basket weaves and have shifted over to the bottle caps for the winter while deciding what to do about replacing the tire. If you've seen my car with the top down (which is whenever it ain't actively raining or below 10 degrees) you'll know its me 'cause I run a behind the front seats wind screen stenciled with ALPINA. I picked it up from Mike 91 318ic a bit over a year ago. There's another enthusiast in South Surrey that goes by PeterIX who's da man on the BEN board. There are a few other nicely kept E30s down here too. Maybe a South Surrey E30 coffee is in order.

i think a south surrey coffee is verry much in order! was your Mtech for sale a while ago/ or is that a different car im thinking of. and yes there is a few of decent looking E30's arround here, i met one guy with an early 80's 318 with the E30 M3 motor, and its totaly tuned out. he lives on the number 10 and 176, but i lost his phone number... and a red 325 thats driven by another kid. whats the BEN board? anyways we should arrange a south surrey coffee some time!

So kowalski, I've gone out and got a pick of my cabrio in Fall colors. I've not had it up for sale. One of the local red 325s is an '87 "is". The guy who's got it works at the South Surrey Canadian Tire. He's recently put a new set of very shiny wheels on it. Between Soccer and Water Polo, my weekend mornings are pretty tight but I'll give ya a holler when I see a couple open mornings to see if we can coordinate a South Surrey E30 coffee break.
