Storing the 325it for a bit.
Driving this car for the last month has made me realize how good the mileage was on my e21. Think I'm going to put it away for awhile and get back into my 320i. At least until my Alpina's get in :D . Anyone have suggestions on what tires to get? Went to National Tire and the guy told me about some no name brand Avis? something like that that makes a tire with tread pattern similar to the Yokohama AVS. $179 each. Any other recs? My bro has got the Kuhmos' and they seem to be doing quite well.
PS. I painted my 320is basketweaves, I'll post some pictures for anyone that is interested.

I'd like to see some pics of your basketweaves with new paint. I'm going to be painting my weaves soon, and I'd like to see how yours turned out - plus any hints/tips you may have.

I'd suggest bridgestone potenza s03... From what I've heard they're the best at doing everything well... When my current tires wear out that's what I'm getting... I currently have Yokohama avid h4's and they're ok but not good... the only good thing they have going is they're cheap and 17's are expensive...

Crowley,
These are probably different from what you were thinking when I said I painted my wheels. I stripped the paint on the lip with paint stripper and then sprayed the middle weave only. I then clearcoated the painted area.
If you want to completely repaint your wheels, I suggest using Wurth paint. It's basically an exact match and it's high quality paint. Lays down nice and smooth.

Wait a minute! I think I've seen that 320 before. Do/did you go to BCIT? I used to see a 320 just like that in the parking lot.
I picked up two basketweaves on Ebay today, and they need serious paint. I'm gonna find some Wurth and have at them after I finish the Hella H1 install.

I'm a BCIT Alumni! I always hated parking in the gravel pit. Maybe you saw it there when it was the only car in the lot. Spent a lot of nites in lab in the computing side. Se12!

I love my Yoko AVS ES100s. I've hammered these tires on dry, wet and snow and they're awesome. Well not that great on snow but decent in the wet and great on dry. I got mine from TireRack in the US and they were cheap.
I second the ES100s vote. I've been thoroughly impressed with mine so far. Pretty much do everything well, about a notch down from perfect in each category - a good comprimise. Basically, they aren't as good as the S03's but they're much cheaper and are going to last twice as long. You really don't need the absolute best tire for the street anyway... you shouldn't be driving to the point that you need it :) And, if you want a stupidly sticky tire... the Falken Azenzis are amazing. I ran them for AutoX and I swore they were R-compound.

I have Flaken Azenis on my car. They are an amazing dry street/ autocross tire. However, they are so, so in the rain and they get very slippery at the track. Up until the point they overheat they are great. Try the guys at Tiretrends.com. They are local version of the tirerack with top notch service.
