I love the color!

Front end looks like it had/needs some work. It's missing the fogs and tow hook covers, also the M badge is on the wrong side. Interior looks clean, the original shifter has been replaced. I wonder who the owner is?

You have to wonder why the badge is in the wrong place...if the guy really liked the car he'd put it in the right place imo. lol.

I think the owner is the guy selling it? Check out his photo album in his post there.

Looks like it could be a good project car, like Anthony said the front end is missing some peices but the price is decent, and I'll be he'd take 15k. I wish I could buy it but I need something bigger for a second car.

hey, just signed up here. Nice site!

Anyways, couple of my friends are friends with the owner of the red M3. I'm gonna go give the car a visit sometime this week hopefully.
I've been looking for a nice E30 just to get me around on weekends and what not -- maybe this will be it.

problem is... call me crazy but im starting to like the lines of the regular E30 better :smokin: And 325is' are nice cars..

Anyways, the owner told me that the car needs the following according to his mechanic at Euro otto sports, he did the inspection last week:
wbsak0307j2196558
Right ball joint
right tie rod end outer
Power steering pump bushings
rear cross member bushings
right sway bar link broken of shock
CAT starting to crack at rear welds
rear muffler loose on clamps
oil leak on timing chain tensioner and cam housing
play on rear diff axle joints
rusted threw on left lift front block

Havent talked to him in a few days, so i wouldnt be too surprised if its sold though..that's pretty cheap for the M. (isnt it?)

I saw this on BMWBC site too http://www.bmwccbc.org/cgi/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=4sale;action=display;num=1072722612

oh and just to add...

The car is from US, I believe originally from Maryland or sumthing.

If you want someone to go with you to take a look at the car let me know. If I were you I would take the car to cgmotorsports (http://www.cgmotorsports.com) and have Chris go over it before you plunk down any cash. I wouldn't say that price is cheap considering the repairs that you listed. Given those repairs and as long as nothing else is required I would probably offer $15K. The silver one on the BMW BC Club board apparently is mint but I've heard the owner isn't 100% committed to selling it.

A clean E30 with M-Tecnic kit, lowered and wheels I think looks just as good if not better than the E30 M3. The M3 is all about aggressive looks and while it works for that car, nice clean lines on an E30 can't be beat. Certainly not by any E36. :D

Now will one of you E30 guys buy a freakin M-Tecnic kit so we show it off! Vince? Bueller? Bueller?

well if an M3 expert would tag along with me, that would be awesome. I'm sure you guys could spot more stuff than me. (For example, i didnt notice that the shifter was replaced.. or the badge on wrong side).

How much do you think it will cost to cover those problems?

does any M3 owners here wanna come with me on Saturday to look at the red M? I'm sure some of you M3 owners will be able to spot the imperfections/problems etc a lot better than I can - maybe you can tell me if it's a car worth buying or not.

Anthony, thanks so much for coming out to see the car with me.

Anyone looking for a clean M3 should stay away from this car, the car looked like it needed a LOT of work, and the seller wasn't able to tell us ANYTHING about the car.

Spaz I would stay away from this car. I am willing to bet that it has been crashed a few times. Assuming the engine is solid, which I doubt based on what I heard today, I wouldn't pay more than $10K for this car. Too many questionable to be worth more than that.

royalflush313
04-05-2004, 02:06 AM
yep, the car didn't sound right. Random parts appeared to be re-painted (owner didn't know why), and the paintjob was terrible.

Owner said that the previous owner (his friend) hit a deer, and that's the only accident.

Well people told me carfax doesnt tell you anything so i never looked it up, but I typed the VIN# in, and there are 19 records for the car. I didn't bother paying for it though, because I have no interest in that car now.

This sedan has had 3 owners and was owned in Texas, Florida and Indiana. The first title for this sedan was reported to CARFAX by a Texas DMV in 1988.
It was involved in an accident in Florida that was reported to the police.
It was severely damaged and issued a Salvage and Junk title by a DMV. It was later issued a Rebuilt title by a Texas DMV, which allows for the vehicle to be repaired and returned to the road.
It has a consistent mileage history with no indication of an odometer rollback. The last odometer reading, reported on 11/12/1998, was 94,859 miles.
It was not reported to a DMV as a Manufacturer Buyback (LEMON).
Go to the Detailed Vehicle History for the complete history and a glossary of terms.

It was only in one accident in FL, it wasn't hit 4 times, please read! It's probably renewing insurance or aircare shows up with SALVAGE TITLE/CERTIFICATE ISSUED.

I dont wanna step in and look like a jackass or anything, but I have some questions for you.

You claim that the pictures are of the same car, well unless the car underwent interior color change along with other modifications, the car cannot be the same one. Your car had the beige interior, some of those pictures of the car has black intrior...

More importantly, you told me that the car was owned by your friend in Maryland, but that does not seem like the case.

It just concerns me that the car was owned in Texas, Florida and in Indiana. You also told me that the only accident was that your buddy in Maryland hit a dear, therefor the M emblem was on the wrong side.

I don't know how this story got mixed up, but at this point i feel quite fooled and scammed, as I was a potential buyer. I guess it doesnt matter anymore, now that you have decided to keep it.

Why don't you come and look at the interior again and compare it to the picture. They are the same cars!!! Do u know where Maryland Indiana is between Ohio and Illinois. And yes the car was hit buy a dear when he had it and lost all the bit and peices off the bumper alost the scratch on the side of the bumper was from that. Bumper was resprayed here. I think people need to have a second thought about me, i'm not a scammer and I've been on the DOV and Vortex longer than you've been on any boards!! I have a well known rep and I have people that can prove that i'm not lying. Throw me a freaking bone!! :bigcry:

I can look at your interior again, and it will most likely not be black. But that's really none of my concerns.

Last time I checked Maryland is by the east coast, below Pennsylvania. But by the way you responded, it seems like you mean that Maryland is a city in Indiana. Well i dont know a Maryland in Indiana, because im not familiar with USA cities, but it seems like the car was in Warsaw and Lafayette Indiana.
Well maybe this was a misunderstanding on my bahalf that when you said Maryland, I assumed it was the Maryland state...

You advertised the car as having 90,000 miles, but you said, and the CARFAX indicates.....94,000 in '98.

I'm sure you are a nice person, and along the way, there must have been some miscommunications between you and myself and other potential buyers. But you gotta admit, there's some stuff that would concern a buyer - its a rebuilt when you said that its not, the mileage seems to be a little strange... etc.

Yes i posted the wrong miles my bad. The car now was 99,000miles on it cause i've been driving it as a daily. It was from Maryland state i guess i was wrong about that, it had Maryland plates when I bought it.

well i guess now you see where everyone's suspicions are coming from.

That's very weird that it had Maryland plates. And since your friend had the car, you'd be pretty sure of where the car came from.

Im sure it would be a good project car.

If the seller was more clear and honest about the car, it would not be such an issue.

And vr6_boy, I dont think that Im being cruel to you. Im simply stating that the condition of the car is not what you had described.

If someone misguides anyone, in order to sell a car, one is bound to get criticisms. I don't think I made any statements which was false or that directly attacked you as a person.

sorry this thread had to get so ugly, but imagine if you were the potential buyer, and you were in my shoes... how would you react and feel?

I really did not intend at all to start a fight or anything....
