My first car was a $800 1972 Austin Mini and even though it had no power it was a blast to drive. My second car was a 1977 Austin Mini that I bought off an old lady in Victoria. Taking a look at current Mini prices I now wish I kept that car. I then moved from Victoria to Vancouver and sadly the Mini just wasn't cutting it so I bought a 1991 Honda Accord EX-R. The Honda was boring but it was sure nice to have a car that worked all the time and didn't cut out when going through puddles.

The Accord was a good car and I took pride in the fact that when I traded it in it had over 240 000 kilometers but looked brand new. I wanted something to help with my new business so I got a 1997 Honda CR-V. I really liked everything about that car except that it had NO power. 120BHP is barely enough to get moving. When the lease came up on the CR-V I decided I needed something fast again so I got a motorbike.

I bought a 1987 Honda CBR-250R (http://xitemedia.net/media/images/cbr_250r.jpg) from the crooks at Atlas motorcycle. I guess they didn't count on me wanting to clean every aspect of the bike for when I took the fairing off I found an engine from a different bike. So I took them to court and won all my money back and gave them the bike back. If the engine was legit it would have been a great starter bike. I wonder who has it now because I know Atlas put it back in their showroom.

After the bike I started looking for a car again. I knew I wanted something fast, fun and cheap. Originally I wanted a convertible E30 but I came across the M3 at a pretty good price I had to jump on it. The car was stock when I bought it and although I've made a few mistakes in modding it I am happy with the look of the car now. (http://motoyen.com/media/psart/ps_11?full=1)

I can't see myself selling this car in the foreseeable future but I am thinking about getting a more comfortable daily driver. I sooo wanted a certain touring that came up for sale locally but the timing wasn't right for me. I'm glad it when to an enthusiast though. I think my next car will be either be a M Coupe, (http://xitemedia.net/media/images/mcoupe.jpg) a Z1, (http://www.bmwz1.co.uk/atspeed.jpg) or a manual 8 series (http://www.bmwworld.com/pics/8er/download_1_3.jpg)

So what kind of cars have you owned before your BMW?

'87 325is ... owned for 3 years before having a terrible rear-end accident.
'88 Ford Bronco II ... winter vehicle, rusted out
'88 Ford Bronco II ... winter vehicle, determined I didn't really like them as much as I thought I did, wanted something newer and bigger
'88 M3 ... bought 8 days after accident with 325is, it was a sign I tell 'ya.
'95 Jeep Cherokee ... Sport, 4.0, low miles... great car, daily driver, work horse, goes like stink, carries my shit, and works a hell of a lot better in snow than the M3 ;)

Might get a '92 525 sometime this week, a local has one and spun it into a guard rail over the winter and is still trying to unload it. Don't know if it's worth getting or nt though. I was thinking about fixing it up, driving it for a bit, and then selling it off down the road.

Other than that though, I don't have expectations for changing cars for a bit. The M3 and Jeep are doing everything pretty well.

The first car I had was a 1976 Mercedes 240D - mud brown with a 4 spd standard. It was an awesome car, no power, minor handling, decent room and tons of fun. It is in heaven now.

The 2nd was a Volvo - it sucked, period.

The 3rd was a 85 BMW 318i auto - it started the craze.
The 4th, an 87 325is - performance craze
The 5th 87 325e 4 door
The 6th was a 88 325ic
The 7th was a 81 633csi
The 8th is my current car the 89 325i

(not to mention my brother's 81 & 82 320i and his 89 touring)

We go through a lot of cars...

Brown Beauty I called it. In highschool everyone would know when i was coming cause of the holes in the exhaust. Loved spraying black exhaust on anyone behind me. Ahh, yeah, now in heaven.

It all started with a 86' VW Jetta that my sister crashed
than a 85' olds cutlass supreme not a bad car but didn't like it so bye bye.
After that the frist BMW a 78' 320, man I loved that car blew the tranny racing on hastings at 2am. You know the strech in front of the PNE (I was 19 at the time)
Then the nicest BMW I've ever owned 82' 320i. I got it from a guy who letting it rot in his garage shuch a shame. 3000$ for the car 5000$ put in to it and then I was hit a buy a (oops) new driver. The 16 year old T boned me and totalled the car. Then came a 4 month battle with ICBC becuase they only wanted to give me 2500$ for the car (lesson learned have you older vehicle appraised) even with the recipts. Got the up to 3700$ took the money and got my frist e30 86 325 one week later I rear ended someone and that was the end of that. Than a 84' 300zx turbo, I beat on that car till I got a offer on it and sold it. Than another cutlass this one an 85' it's a POS I'm still tying to sell it. Finally my current daily driver 86' 325 that I have begun work on. Sorry about the long post just I didn't do the newbie post and kinda made up for that here. Old BMW's rule!!!!!!!

My first car was a 1968 VW Beetle which I restored, then some ***** vandalized it. Fun but absolutely no performance. I've owned a few bikes over the years, and now have a highly modded Honda VTR sportbike.

- '96 Civic Hatchback - (my learning car - I was stupid, I did everything that parents and the society in general do not want the kid to do with their car. Partial ownership with my sister).
- '01 Lexus IS300 - (RWD is fun. Me and my sister sold the Civic, because long story short, i ****** the car up..... It was my dad's car until he bought a M3. So he gave me the privillage of driving it).

- the 318is. First car that I can say is mine only. Driving the Lexus was sweet. Cept i hated that i 'owed' something to my dad, so i went out and bought myself a car that was obviously a downgrade. This suprised my dad a lot, because well who really gives up a brand new lexus for a pos bimmer?)

well that's my car/life story :)
