brake lining- light's on

unfortuantely the owners manual was stolen years ago..

the brake lining light came on this weekend (on the way to Harrison). i'm guessing it means the front brake pads need to be replaced. they're KVR carbon pads,if that makes a difference.
any suggestions on where to start?

Look at the pads and see if there's a lot left. I'm not sure of exact specifications. You may or may not need to take off the wheels to do this.

If they all have enough pad left then could be a faulty sensor. Either replace the sensor or take the two wires and connect them to complete the circuit, then tape it to the strut or something to keep it out of the way.

There's a pad sensor on the front left and rear right I believe, so just check those two first.
