What did you use to do it? how did you prep the crome?

1) Get a spare set of Kidney grilles.

2) Strip all the chrome off with a dremmel tool - 2hrs and your favorite beverage.

3) Get pissed-off when you discover that the plastic is cracked under the chrome, and you've wasted 2hrs, and several dremmel sanding drums.

4) Get another set of Kidneys.

5) Thank you Fiance for being patient.

6) Carfully seperate the kidneys from the black grill. Scruff the chrome up with sandpaper.

7) Clean everything up.

8) Prime with metal etching primer if you are spraying over the chrome. (I used SEM)

9) Spray several thins coats of SEM satin black trim paint

10) Stand back and adimire your work, but remember that paint and chrome don't like each other, hence my wanting to remove the chrome. The paint will eventually flake off as you get rock chips, but its nothing another shot of paint won't fix.

Nice, I did mine last week. I did the same prep, but used Tremclad high heat flat as a primer, then Tremclad Semi-Gloss. The result is excellent, it exactly matches the OEM shadowline.
