Hey all,

Does anyone on the board have experience with Dinan performance chips? I know squat about chips, but I came across a used one for about $50, which seems too good to pass up. Comments, positive, negative or otherwise, are welcome. Thanks.

Dinan makes good chips, and if you can get it for $50 even better. Just make sure it's not a copy. From what I've read they only work at wot...That was the main reason I didn't get a Dinan but for $50 go for it. If you don't like it sell it on ebay for 50-100 maybe more.

I'm running one in my car with the dinan exhaust gear. I couldn't tell you if it made ahuge difference because it was in the car when i got it.

The dinan chips are only mapped at full throttle to keep them more "driveable" at low rpm, and keep gas consumption down. For $50 if it is an actual dinan chip its worth it

Dont get an ebay burn chip, I had installed one, felt real good for the first day, then all of the sudden, misfires and engine stutter underload. Turned out to be my #1 ignition coil, but who knows if the chip could've been the cause of it. I'll say this much, I love my used JimC chip. Anyone try one of those MarkD chips yet?

I picked one up a few weeks ago. For an M42, it really does give it the needed pep. Everyday driveability is much better, because the throttle response is greater. I haven't redlined it yet, but I imagine @7000 or whatever it is, it would be plenty good. Good, relatively-cheap HP mod. Much more practical than anything else if you're looking for more HP. I don't really know how else to describe it, since most of you have heard all of the reviews already. It really does seem more anxious to rev though, I'll say that much (It seems like I have to concentrate on not speeding a lot more :D)

the chip wouldn't do in your coil, however im pretty sure the ebay chips that i have dont do much for hp its more or less just the bumped redline, i never felt this pull that everyone talks about after installing but im too hceap to buy a 200-250$ chip so if somone has a used one:P

Hey Kowalski,

got any inexpensive mod ideas for the m42 after chip, air filter and exhaust.
