So what is the best method? Dental floss and a heat gun?

I just used the floss and some goo gone.

I used dental floss and a goo-gone also. It worked really well but at certain angles I could always see the ''325'' in the depth of the paint from fade. Others thought I was crazy but it was there.
Take it off and see what you think. It only takes 5 minutes and it's easy to replace if you want it back on.

I noticed that on mine when I was stripping it down for the paint job.

Make sure you have some polish ready :). The paint underneath will probably not blend in properly because its been on there for a long time. Just take some polish to it when you're done and it'll look fine.
