Help for temp guage that's too high

Have a 318is 1991 it had two pin holes leak under intake manifold which i replaced now my temp guage will not stay on middle or normal, it goes all the way to red and sometimes fluctuate over the have towards the red What do I need to do to get it back to read normal and stay there? Thanks to all.
